CREDITSTARTFirst-time test results are available for fourth-graders who took the TerraNova Test, eighth-graders who took the EXPLORE Test and 10th-graders who took the PLAN Test last fall.Assistant Superintendent Robin Dexter shared those results with the Grand Island school board during its regular February meeting on Thursday night.
Students in those three grades took the tests for the first time last fall. Previously, students in the third through ninth grades and the 11th grade had been taking the Iowa Test of Basic Skills.
One reason the district has stopped administering the Iowa Test of Basic Skills is that it takes 300 minutes for students to complete, according to Deb Karle, coordinator for teaching and learning assessment for the Grand Island School district.
TerraNova and the EXPLORE Test each take 120 minutes for students to complete, while the PLAN test takes 90 minutes.
