GRAND ISLAND —
People
from Grand Island, across Nebraska and across the United States packed
the east conference room Sunday afternoon as the Grand Island Public
School Administration Building was dedicated as the Michael S. Kneale
Administration Building.
Kneale served as superintendent of the district from 1979 to 1985. He
was present Sunday as the district's main offices at 123 S. Webb Road
were named in his honor.
"He is so liked -- so loved -- and is so dynamic," said community
leader Gaylord Apfel, as he sat in the 200-plus member audience that
overflowed into the district's board room.
Kneale was praised for his lifelong spirit of "encouraging others" and
for his commitment to "education as the great equalizer."
