GRAND ISLAND —
The Grand Island school board will embark on its first-ever "eMeeting" in October.

That means the board meeting will be paperless, with the agenda and all supporting documents printed electronically on laptop computers supplied to each individual board member.

Sue Burch, GIPS director of technology, said the system is being promoted by the Nebraska Association of School Boards.

Grand Island is hardly a trailblazer, though.

Eighteen other school districts, some much smaller than Grand Island, also are using the eMeeting system. They include:

Arlington Public Schools, Bellevue Public Schools, Cambridge, Hershey Public School, Holdrege, Hyannis Area Schools, Lexington, Middletown,  Millard, Norfolk Public Schools, Papillion-LaVista, Plattsmouth Community Schools, Ravenna Public Schools, Scottsbluff, Shelton Public Schools, Sutherland Public School, Tri County Public Schools and Valentine.  Full Story
