GRAND ISLAND —
"The Road to Cultural Competence," a one-day conference, is being held at the Midtown Holiday Inn in Grand Island.
The conference is being hosted by the Multicultural Coalition of Grand Island.
Odalys Perez, director of the Multicultural Coalition, said 165 people
have registered for the conference. She said most are from Grand
Island, but she said people also will be attending from Kearney,
Lexington and the Lincoln Public Schools.
Perez said she believes she has good keynote and breakout speakers lined up for the conference.
"I heard Dr. Gloria (WilderBrathwaite) speak several years ago," Perez said. "She's very, very good."
WilderBrathwaite, founder of CORE HEALTH, is the morning keynote speaker.
CORE HEALTH is an organization dedicated to assisting providers to help underserved populations in the community.
