The Grand Island Public Schools central office administration staff is being reorganized, along with Senior High, Barr Middle School and some elementary school administrative staffs.

The reorganization is prompted in large part by the departure of Vern Fisher, assistant superintendent for teaching and learning, who will become superintendent for the South Sioux City school district on July 1.

Fisher is not being replaced, with some of his salary being redirected to staff reorganization.

Grand Island Superintendent Steve Joel said Robin Dexter, assistant superintendent for student services, will assume some of Fisher's duties, while giving some of her duties to other members of the central office administration.

He said Dexter has been working with Fisher on development of a new curriculum for the proposed industrial technology program to be located in the former Pentair manufacturing plant on South Adams Street.  Full Story
