Everyday objects educational at G.I. science fair

Grand Island teachers got inventive in coming up with a new activity to replace the Invention Convention competition for students.

Lisa Blase, integration specialist at Engleman Elementary, said students had been competing in school-level Invention Convention contests. Local winners then traveled to Kearney for Invention Convention competition.

This year, integration specialists and teachers decided to host the district’s first-ever science fair instead for students in the third through seventh grades, Blase said.

“It (the science fair) is closer to our curriculum,” said Blase, explaining the switch.  Full Story
