The day after Memorial Day, 446 students showed up at eight Grand Island schools to eat a school lunch.

The following day, Wednesday, 616 students went to the eight schools to eat lunch, according to Kris Spellman, director of the Grand Island Public Schools.

In 2008, 286 kids ate on the first day of the summer school lunch program and 400 kids ate on the following day.  Full Story
