About 217 preschool students at the Early Learning Center will receive vaccinations against H1N1 flu today.

Robin Dexter, assistant superintendent for student services, said the Early Learning Center is the first site for the Grand Island public schools where students will receive the H1N1 flu vaccinations. The center is in the former Engleman Elementary School building.

The Early Learning Center has about 300 preschool students, who are divided between morning and afternoon. That means more than 70 percent of the center's preschoolers will be vaccinated.

Dexter said the parents of nearly 120 preschool students at the Early Learning Center had signed consent forms when they were first sent out, but about 100 more consent forms came flooding in from parents during the past two days.  Full Story
