Grand Island Superintendent Steve Joel's third blog for The Independent talks about sight-seeing visits to the Great Wall, Beijing Olympic Village and college football Saturday for the educators on the trip.

“Saturday has been a long day. The morning was spent visiting the Great Wall of China which was an amazing experience heaped in history. It is located about an hour outside Beijing. The Wall is so magnificent that one of our astronauts said it was only one of two structures he could see from space.

Climbing the Wall was an awesome experience and I was able to take some great pictures. Several in our group made it to the top and we have been hurting all afternoon.

In the afternoon we toured the Bejing Olympic Village which was another pretty awesome experience. If it wasn’t for the cold weather, I probably would have enjoyed it more. The vast number of buildings erected for the Olympics is staggering. Sadly, most are not being used today.  Full Story
