Calculator giveaway at Howard Elementary grows

Giving a little can go a long, long way.

Just ask Madisyn Springer.

The Howard Elementary fourth-grader saved $17 of her own money to buy calculators for her classmates in Jane Kipper's class. She handed them out around Thanksgiving.

But the story of her generosity was so compelling that more donations for calculators have come in to the school of 400 students, 88 percent of whom are below the poverty line, Principal Julie Schnitzler said.  Full Story
