Salina (Kan.) Superintendent Rob Winter should be the Grand Island school district's next superintendent, assuming the school district can successfully negotiate a contract with him.

The Grand Island school board met in a closed-door session for a little more than three hours Monday evening before reconvening in open session, where board member Roger Harms made a motion to offer Winter the job as Grand Island school superintendent, pending contract negotiations.

Winter was one of four people interviewed last week by a wide variety of parent, student, administrator, and community groups, with a final evening interview conducted by the Grand Island school board.

The other finalists interviewed included Clint Carpenter, superintendent of the Texas Youth Commission School; Brad Meeks, superintendent of the Farmington, Minn. school district; and Scott Springston, superintendent of the Valley Center, Kan., school district.  Full Story
