Kyley Kinley began writing her fantasy novel "Betwix" when she was just a little bit older than the Newell Elementary students she talked to on Friday during the school's Author for a Day event.

"I began writing my book when I was 13," said Kinsley, who is now a junior English major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. "I finished it when I was 14."

Kinley told The Independent she began sending the book to publishers when she was in high school but kept getting rejection letters until she was in college. Then a small company, Publish America, agreed to print her fantasy novel.

She also said every time she got a rejection letter she looked at her novel to see how it might be improved. Kinley estimated she revised portions of her novel 20 to 30 times before it was accepted for publication.  Full Story
