Artist molding young minds at Gates Elementary

The fourth-graders in Patsy Steenson’s class were getting lessons Monday morning in geology, history, vocabulary and art — all at the same time.

And all while creating a piece of pottery, too.

Grand Island artist Nancy Fairbanks, the class’s guest instructor, marveled at how much could be crammed into one pottery lesson.

“Did you know that art involves all these different things?” she asked the students.  Full Story
