West Lawn Elementary School will receive U.S. flag for support of military
Students at West Lawn Elementary School will receive a U.S. flag at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, at the school at 3022 W. College St. for their efforts in collecting items donated to U.S. military personnel, Principal Jane Gloor said.
West Lawn students and Principal Financial Group employees collected more than 380 pounds of soap, shampoo, books, magazines, food items, candy, and drink mix packets last fall and sent them to military personnel. Principal Financial Group is West Lawn's business partner.
A military unit that received some of the donated items sent a U.S. flag that was flown at their camp on Dec. 4, 2009, in honor of Principal Financial Group and two certificates of appreciation to Principal Financial Group. Those items are currently displayed at the front counter at Principal Financial Group.
