West Lawn Elementary School students celebrating summer school water theme
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service staff members will help West Lawn Elementary School students celebrate the end of their summer school session, which has the theme "Water, Water, Everywhere," by leading water-related activities at the school from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 30.
Language arts, guided reading, writing, math, and science/social studies learning events this summer focused on the "Water, Water, Everywhere" theme, Principal Jane Gloor said.
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service staff members have designed three activities in which students will participate on June 30, said Natalie Harden, a West Lawn first grade teacher.
The Fish and Wildlife Serviceís employees will introduce the activities to students during a short presentation in the school's commons area at 9 a.m. June 30, then will have students move outside to participate in the activities. One activity is a game where students act out migration. Students will also be able to view and touch pond invertebrates in a pool and view a bird, frogs, and a snake.
