West Lawn Elementary School sponsors food drive

West Lawn Elementary School, in conjunction with its business partner, Principal Financial Group, sponsored a food drive for two non-profit groups that concluded on Oct. 17.

Students collected food for the Salvation Army and Crisis Center during National Food Bank Week, Principal Jane Gloor. A total of 390 items were collected for the Salvation Army's Community Food Pantry and the Crisis Center.

Each grade level was provided with a shopping list of suggested items that are needed. Third-grade teacher Kim Gill's students collected the most items (82 items) and will receive a surprise, Gloor said.

Representatives from the Salvation Army and Crisis Center will pick up the items at 1 p.m. Oct. 20 at the school at 3022 W. College St.

This year is West Lawn's 10th anniversary for having Principal Financial Group as its business partner, Gloor said.
