West Lawn Elementary School students are "traveling" to Africa from 3:05 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the school as part of their "World Class Learning" theme this year to learn about different continents.

Students will participate in sessions in at the school to learn about kente cloth as art, mancala, rainstick making, Anasi stories, and masks and shields, Principal Jane Gloor said.

The musical group "Fanti Way" will perform. The percussion group is comprised of Ghana native Morgan Woode, who is an assistant custodian at West Lawn, and his two children. Woode is from the Fanti tribe of Ghana and has performed in Grand Island numerous times at events such as the Central Nebraska Ethnic Festival.
