West Lawn Elementary School 5th-grade girls donating to Hair for Hearts

West Lawn Elementary School Fifth-Grade Teacher Josa Wilkinson encouraged her female students to “let their hair down” for a good cause.

Wilkinson and three of her students will donate some of their hair to Pink Heart Funds after their hair is cut at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, at the school.

Pink Heart Funds uses the hair to make free wigs for children and women who have lost their hair because of cancer and other illnesses, Wilkinson said.

After Parent-Teacher Conferences in fall 2010, the teacher challenged her female students to grow their hair long so it could be trimmed and donated this spring.

West Lawn Elementary School is located at 3022 W. College St.
