Walnut D.C. Diplomats sponsoring garage sale
Walnut Middle School's D.C. Diplomats are sponsoring a garage sale Saturday, Jan. 31, at the school to raise money for an annual student trip to Washington, D.C.
The multi-family garage sale will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 31 in the school's gym, said Janet Schutz, an integration specialist at Walnut and trip sponsor. Items for sale will include toys, household items, and clothing. No early sales will be allowed.
The eighth-grade students in D.C. Diplomats, along with adult sponsors, will visit Washington, D.C., this spring.
Sites they will visit include the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial, and Jefferson Memorial.
Students have participated in a variety of other fund-raisers, including selling concessions at athletic events.
