Shoemaker Elementary School sponsoring raptor recovery presentation as fund-raiser
Shoemaker Elementary Schoolís Parent-Teacher Organization is sponsoring a presentation about raptor recovery and a hot dog dinner Friday, Jan. 29, as a fund-raiser to construct a sidewalk from Shoemaker Park to other sidewalks near the school.
Shoemaker Principal Toni Palmer said that a presentation about raptor recovery at 6:45 p.m. Jan. 29 will be preceded by a hot dog dinner from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Jan. 29 in the school's gym at 4160 Old Potash Highway. Admission is $5 for people 13 and older. Children 12 and under will be admitted for free.
"Our theme this year is to be 'Wild About Learning,' so this is a way that we can expand student learning outside of school and offer an opportunity for families to come together and enjoy an evening with their kids," Palmer said.
Money raised from the event will be used to pay for the sidewalk from Shoemaker Park adjacent to the school to current sidewalks already near the school, she said.
