Registration open for nursing assistant class at G.I. Senior High School
Registration is now open for a nursing assistant class at Grand Island Senior High School that will be held during the fall semester beginning Aug. 18.
The class is for, but not limited to, Grand Island Senior High School students and is offered through collaboration with Central Community College. Students must be age 16 by November to be eligible for the class.
Students must attend a mandatory orientation for the first session at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, in Room 13 at Grand Island Senior High School, 2124 N. Lafayette Ave. Students will complete 76 hours of lab/class time and other course requirements. Classes will meet from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The dates for clinical experience are Nov. 18 and Nov. 19. The final exam is scheduled for Dec. 15.
Class size is limited, so students must register and pay to reserve a space. Registration forms and class schedules are available in the Grand Island Senior High School Business Office, where staff member Peggy Christensen will accept registration forms and payments. The cost for Nebraska residents is $328, which includes tuition, books, and the final test. Tuition checks should be payable to Central Community College. Students will also be required to pay $22.85 for a drug test at a later date.
