Purple Hands Assembly scheduled at Barr Middle School

University of Nebraska football star Todd Peterson of Grand Island will be the featured speaker at the Purple Hands Assembly at Barr Middle School at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6.
Peterson is a native of Grand Island and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in December. He was a walk-on for the football program and earned a starting position as a receiver on the team. The assembly is open to the public.

During the rally, Barr students take the Purple Hands pledge that says, "I will not use my hands or my words for hurting myself or others." The Purple Hands Program has been integrated into all three Grand Island Public Schools middle schools.
