New members join Grand Island Education Foundation Board

Four new board members have joined the Grand Island Education Foundation Board of Directors, said Foundation Board President Cathleen H. Allen.

"We are pleased to welcome these four individuals to the Foundation Board. They each bring different talents and skills but share a common passion for education," Allen said.

"The Grand Island Education Foundation is blessed with a very supportive community that understands the value of quality public education. Those joining the Board are individuals who have long histories of participation in the growth and betterment of our community," said Foundation Executive Director Traci Skalberg.

Joining the Foundation Board are DJ Eihusen, Renee Goble, Dr. David Lofgreen, and Russ Rerucha.

DJ Eihusen is executive vice-president of Chief Industries, Inc. and general manager of Chief Fabrication and Custom Products. Eihusen is a life-long Grand Island resident, graduating from Grand Island Senior High School and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has served several community agencies in Grand Island including the Heartland United Way, the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and facilities team at Third City Christian Church. Eihusen also recently served as a Principal for a Day with Grand Island Public Schools.








Renee Goble graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical Center with a degree in radiologic technology and is a cardiac ultrasonographer.  Goble currently serves as a TeamMates mentor and is board chairwoman for the Heartland United Way. She has served on the governing boards of many community and statewide organizations including Stuhr Museum, Saint Francis Medical Center Foundation, and Friends of Lied. Additionally, Goble has been an active member in various school booster organizations at Grand Island Senior High School. 








Dr. David Lofgreen began his association with Grand Island Public Schools as a fourth-grade student at Howard Elementary School. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry. Lofgreen has practiced dentistry in Grand Island since 1973. Lofgreen served as a member of Grand Island Public Schools Board of Education for 12 years. He has also been involved in Third City Sertoma, ARC of Nebraska, the Heartland United Way, the Shriners, and previously served as a trustee for the Nebraska Dental Association.








Russ Rerucha is owner and manager of Green Line Equipment, Inc. He is a graduate of Grand Island Senior High School and Kearney State College. Rerucha has served as a board member for Riverside Golf Club, St. Pauls Lutheran Church, and the YMCA. He is also involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters, the United Way, and the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Rerucha served as a chair person for the Kids Kingdom Playground. 







Others serving on the Grand Island Education Foundation Board of Directors are Cathleen H. Allen, George Ayoub, Patricia Brown, Linna Dee Donaldson, Brad Fegley, Kurt Haecker, John M. Hoggatt, Ann Marsh, and Jane Richardson. Ex-officio members are Lynne Werner, Dr. Steve Joel, Carol Bryant, Virgil Harden, Dr. Kent Mann, Kari Price, and Executive Director Traci Skalberg.

The Grand Island Education Foundation is the tax-exempt organization that accepts gifts on behalf of Grand Island Public Schools. Since the Grand Island Education Foundation's inception in 1983, its mission and goal are to enhance a tax-funded education by creating additional opportunities for students through philanthropic means. Programs and projects that fall under the Education Foundation's enhancement umbrella include booster clubs, college scholarships for Grand Island Senior High School's top-rated students, facility enhancement, teacher and student recognition, alumni relations, the Grand Island Senior High School Hall of Honor, and the Classroom Mini-Grant Program.
