Middle schools sponsoring Parent Awareness Night
The three middle schools in the Grand Island Public Schools are sponsoring a Parent Awareness Night at Westridge Middle School starting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 27.
The event is designed for parents whose children attend Barr, Walnut, or Westridge Middle Schools and their families.
Ice cream sundaes will be served at Westridge Middle School, 4111 W. 13th St., beginning at 6:30 p.m. April 27. There will be a free-will offering for the sundaes.
A free-throw competition will begin at 6:45 p.m. April 27 at Westridge. Each middle school's free-throw team will be comprised of a school resource officer, staff member, and student.
Grand Island Police Department Officers Butch Hurst and Rick Ressel will give a presentation about Internet and text messaging safety at 7 p.m. April 27 at Westridge. Hurst and Ressel work as school resource officers in Grand Island Public Schools middle schools.
Fun activities for students will be available. Free child care will be available at the Parent Awareness Night.
Parents who plan to attend the Parent Awareness Night are asked to contact staff at one of the three middle schools by April 22 to let the school know how many people from the family will attend the event and how many children from the family will need childcare.
