Kindergarten and elementary registration set for May 17, 18, and 19 for G.I. Public Schools
Grand Island Public Schools registration for the 2011-2012 school year for kindergarten students and students in first through fifth grades will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. each day on Tuesday, May 17; Wednesday, May 18; and Thursday, May 19.
Students whose last names begin with:
- A through H should register between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 17
- I through Q should register between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 18
- R through Z should register between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday, May 19
Children who will be 5 years old by Oct. 15 are eligible to register for kindergarten at
designated schools. If parents are uncertain which school their child will attend, they may call the Grand Island Public Schools Kneale Administration Building at 385-5900.
Parents are asked to bring to registration their child's birth certificate and Social Security number. The names and birthdates of all brothers and sisters, proof of physical examinations and immunizations (if available), and the name and address of someone other than parents to contact in case of emergency are also required. By state law, physical examinations, vision examinations, and immunizations are required for all students entering school.
Registration for Howard Elementary School students will also occur from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 23, at the school. Howard Elementary School students will begin following a continuous school calendar schedule for the 2011-2012 school year. Registration for all other elementary school students who will follow the traditional school calendar for the 2011-2012 school year at the 13 other elementary schools will be from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 28.
It is extremely important for parents to register their children this spring so the schools can plan for fall classes. If you cannot register on theses dates, it is important that you contact your neighborhood school to make other arrangements.
