Howard and Newell Elementary School hosting author Julia Cook

Children's book author Julia Cook of Fremont will work with Howard Elementary School students on Thursday, Oct. 7, and Newell Elementary School students on Friday, Oct. 8, to promote writing and reading.

Cook will work with Howard Elementary School students between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, at the school at 502 W. Ninth St., said Principal Julie Schnitzler.

Cook will lead presentations for Newell Elementary School students during the day on Friday, Oct. 8, said Principal Brad Wolfe. She will give a presentation for parents and students that is open to the public from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 8 at the school at 2700 W. 13th St.

Newell's PTA and the Central Nebraska Reading Council are sponsoring Cook's appearance at Newell, Wolfe said.
Cook lives with her husband and three children in Fremont. She has a master's degree in elementary school counseling and has worked as a teacher and elementary school counselor.
