Homecoming king, queen selected at G.I. Senior High School

Grand Island Senior High School's Homecoming King and Queen are Lance Kush and Rachel Huston.

The Homecoming Queen and King were crowned at the Homecoming Dance on Oct. 16, said Student Council Advisor Danielle Buhrman. They were chosen by a vote of the Senior Class.

Rachel Huston is the daughter of Jay and Candy Huston. Rachel is involved in golf, track, Chamber Singers, Madrigals, FCA, and is a Senior SAGE. She has been on the honor roll every year, is the secretary for the National Honor Society, and placed sixth at the 2010 State Golf Tournament. Following graduation, Rachel plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, majoring in animal science. 

Lance Kush is the son of Greg and Dayna Kush. Lance participates in tennis, golf, FCA, show band, and is on the newspaper staff.  He is the treasurer of the National Honor Society, is the 2009 and 2010 #2 singles State runner-up in tennis, state champion in journalism for sports news coverage writing, and has been on the honor roll every year.  Lance wants to play tennis in college while majoring in broadcasting with a minor in journalism. 

The other Homecoming King candidates, as nominated by the Senior Class, were Nolan Kawata, Adam Werner, Logan Mendez, and Jack Jeffries. The other Queen candidates were Jaden Daake, Emma Lee, Taylor Knuth, and Kiara Solorzano.
