Holocaust survivors will share their stories with G.I. Senior High School 9th-graders
Four Holocaust survivors who live in Nebraska will share their stories with Grand Island Senior High School ninth-graders on Wednesday, March 23.
The Holocaust survivors will talk to students from approximately 2:15 p.m. to 3:35 p.m. March 23 during 7th and 8th periods, said Fawn Gernstein, an English teacher at the high school. Each speaker will talk for approximately 50 minutes, then answer student questions.
The Grand Island Education Foundation provided funds for the project through its Classroom Mini-Grant Program.
The Holocaust survivors, the locations where they will speak at the high school at 2124 N. Lafayette Ave., and the host teachers at each location are:
* Holocaust survivor Dr. Fred Kader, band room, teacher host Sarah Wolf
* Holocaust survivor Kitty Williams, multi-purpose room, teacher host Robyn Warner
* Holocaust survivor Lou Leviticus, Little Theater, teacher hosts Greg Morrow and Montie Fyfe
* Holocaust survivor Bea Karp, choir room, teacher host Paula Poppe
