Governor, Secretary of State will be at Barr to launch state program to honor veterans
Gov. Dave Heineman and Secretary of State John Gale will appear at a news conference at Barr Middle School at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, to launch a state program called Honor a Veteran.
The event will be in the auditorium of Barr Middle School, 602 W. Stolley Park Road.
The program is designed to encourage Nebraska middle schools to hold events around Veterans Day to honor veterans in their communities. The program is modeled after a highly successful event at Barr Middle School.
Also appearing at the news conference will be Greg Morrow, a Barr teacher who has helped spearhead the event, and Brig. Gen. Timothy J. Kadavy, adjutant general of the Nebraska Military Department.
Barr's entire eighth-grade class will attend the event.
