Gates Elementary School students selected for state honor choir
Three Gates Elementary School fifth-grade students have been selected to participate in the Nebraska Choral Directors Association Sing Around Nebraska Children's Honor Choir.
The students are Jayden Falldorf, Becca Meyer, and Ashtyn Tuttle, said Larry Decker, the vocal music teacher at Gates Elementary School.
The 150 fifth-and sixth-graders comprising the choir are selected from across the state through an audition process where tapes are submitted. This year, 283 students auditioned for the choir.
The choir will rehearse Nov. 14 and Nov. 15 at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts in Lincoln and will present a concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Lied Center. Three college choirs will also perform at the concert.
Guest clinician is Angela Broeker, director of choral activities at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn.
