G.I. Senior High School will present 'Hairspray' as school's musical

Grand Island Senior High School students learned May 10 that "Hairspray" has been selected as the school's next musical and will be performed in October.

Greg Ulmer, director of theatre, made the announcement in the Little Theater at the school in the morning on May 10. Approximately 100 students attended the announcement during the Oasis period.

Grand Island Senior High School will be the first or among the first high schools in the state to perform the musical, Ulmer said. The musical will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on October 28 through October 30 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 31.

Theatre and music teachers showed students a clip from the 2007 movie "Hairspray" that features stars including John Travolta, Michelle Pfeifer, Zac Efron, Queen Latifah, Christopher Walken, and Nikki Blonsky.
