G.I. Senior High School students earn superior ratings at district music contest

Approximately 1,400 students participated in the Nebraska School Activities Association District Music Contest Friday, April 23, at Grand Island Senior High School. Christa Speed, orchestra director at the high school, coordinating the contest, which had more than 600 entries.

Grand Island Senior High School students or groups that earned I (superior) ratings were:

*Camerata Orchestra
*Violin Solos: Brianna Stueven, Mollie Bartlett, Breanna Casares, and Kenna Sattley
*Cello Solos: Ciara Meyer and Hannah Benson
*Jennifer Schneider, Guitar Solo
*Victoria Bialas, Harp Solo
*Violin Duet:  Linda Nguyen and Kaitlin Frankforter
*Violin Quartet:  Mollie Bartlett, Breanna Casares, Elizabeth Prawl, and Jody McKee
*String Ensemble: Kenna Sattley, Brianna Stueven, Javier Lopez, Cody Amnott, Nyanial Rial, Ciara Meyer, and Jaden Weber
*String Sextet:  Linda Nguyen, Kaitlin Frankforter, Sarah Bauer, Abby Jameson, Sara Robbins, and Hannah Benson
*Tenor Saxophone Solos: Hannah Benson and Brandon Pfeifer
*Piano Solos: Mitchell Alcorn, Anna Toner, and Nathan Larsen
*Madrigal/Chamber Singers
*Vocal Solos: Hannah Benson, Carsten Bosselman, Rebecca Holloway, Laura Gregory, Colby Roseberry, Allison Homes, and Sarabeth Swift
