G.I. Senior High School students compete in State Science Olympiad

The Grand Island Senior High Robotics Team placed first in the Sumobots Competition on Saturday, April 17, at the State Science Olympiad Tournament at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. 

The Sumobots Competition required students to design, build, and program a robot that has speed and agility and can overpower and force the opponent out of the match area. 

Team members were: Jamie Kirk, designer; John Hamburger, assistant strategist; and Michael McElligott, programmer, controller, and head strategist. Coaches were Dr. Julie Hehnke and Kris McElligott.
