G.I. Senior High School students accepted for honor orchestras and honor bands
Grand Island Senior High School orchestra and band students have been accepted into several statewide honor orchestras and bands, said Director Christa Speed.
All of the students auditioned for positions in the orchestras and bands. Each orchestra or band presented or will present a concert at the conclusion of a clinic.
The Nebraska Wesleyan Honor University Honor Band and Honor Orchestra will be Feb. 12 through Feb. 14. Jennifer Schneider, clarinet; and Margaret Gregory, flute; were selected for the Nebraska Wesleyan Honor Band. Violinist Elizabeth Prawl was selected for the Nebraska Wesleyan Honor Orchestra.
The University of Nebraska at Omaha Honor Orchestra and Honor Band were Jan. 30 through Feb. 1, with the final performances in the Holland Center. Grand Island Senior High School orchestra students selected were: Linda Nguyen, Elizabeth Prawl, Nyssa Nabity, Mollie Bartlett, violin; Kylie Yarns and Donald Nabity, viola; Hanna Taylor, cello; and Lucas Miller, double bass. Flutist Margaret Gregory was selected for the UNO Honor Band.
Students selected for the Hastings College Honor Band, held Feb. 5 through Feb. 7, were Lizzette Osorio, trumpet; and Margaret Gregory, flute. Violinist Linda Nguyen was selected for the Hastings College Honor Orchestra.
