G.I. Senior High School orchestra members participate in District Music Contest
Grand Island Senior High School orchestra members participated in the District Music Contest in Kearney on April 19 and April 20, orchestra director Christa Speed said.
Soloists and ensembles received either a I rating (superior) or II rating (excellent). The high school's String Orchestra received a superior rating (I), and the high school's 70-member Symphony Orchestra received a superior (I+) rating.
Soloists and small ensembles that received superior (I) ratings were:
*Linda Nguyen, violin solo
*Lauren Shoemaker, violin solo
*Leslie Steele, violin solo
*Laura Steele, violin solo
*Ben Robbins, viola solo
*Emalie Clement, viola solo
*Hannah Benson, cello solo
*Hanna Taylor, cello solo
*Teagen Nabity and Hannah Benson, cello duet
*Leslie Steele and Suzanne Higgins, violin duet
*Emalie Clement and Ben Robbins, viola duet
*Laura Steele, Leslie Steele, Suzanne Higgins, and Lauren Shoemaker, senior violin quartet
*Teagen Nabity, Hanna Taylor, Lucy Allen, and Kaitlyn Worthington, cello quartet
*Laura Steele, Leslie Steele, Emalie Clement, Ben Robbins, and Teagen Nabity, string quintet
*Amber Kunze, Linda Nguyen, Kaitlin Frankforter, Becca Preisendorf, Breanna Casares, Jody McKee, Sarah Robbins, Kate Zuehlke, and Breanne Presendorf, violin/viola ensemble
Soloists and small ensembles receiving II ratings (excellent) were:
*Amber Kunze, violin solo
*Elizabeth Prawl, violin solo
*Kaitlyn Worthington, cello solo
*Jody McKee, Mollie Bartlett, Breanna Casares, and Elizabeth Prawl, freshmen violin quartet
