G.I. Senior High School band members participate in District Music Contest

Grand Island Senior High School band members participated in the District Music Contest in Kearney on April 19 and April 20, band director Jim Kordik said.
Soloists and ensembles received either a I rating (superior), II rating (excellent), or III rating (good).

The Islander Jazz/Rock Ensemble received a superior (I+) rating and district award plaque.

Soloists and small ensembles that received superior (I) ratings were:
*Levi Benson, guitar solo
*Jennifer Schneider, guitar solo
*Jennifer Schneider, clarinet solo
*Karen Whiteley, alto sax solo
*Ryne Miller, tenor sax solo
*Leslie Steele, tenor sax solo
*Hannah Benson, tenor sax solo
*Ryne Miller, Nathan Holmes, and Alex Bullington, saxophone trio
*Jenna Manley and Lucas Elsbernd, snare duet
Soloists and small ensembles receiving II ratings (excellent) were:
*Kiley Preisendorf, flute solo
*Kyle Beaman, trumpet solo
*Lizzy Osorio and Ethan Schmid, trumpet duet
Stacia Marisch received a III rating (good) for a French horn solo.
Accompanists for the Senior High musicians were Ruth Moore and Kristen Friesen.
