G.I. Senior High Orchestra sets concert date

The Grand Island Senior High School Orchestra will perform at a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the school's auditorium, Director Christa Speed said.

Lauren Shoemaker, a senior, will be the featured soloist. She will be playing the first movement of the "Concerto for Violin in A Minor" by Johann Sebastian Bach. In addition to playing the violin in the high school's orchestra, she is also on the swimming team, an Honor Roll student, and a member of the National Honor Society and the Youth Leadership Council.

Other works on the program include highlights from the Wizard of Oz, "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring," "Ashokan Farewell," and "Overture to Rienzi."

The concert is open to the public and has no admission charge. Christa Speed conducts the orchestra.
