G.I. Senior High Orchestra plans 'Teddy Bear Concert' for children

The Grand Island Senior High School Orchestra will perform a "Teddy Bear Concert" designed for children at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, in the school's auditorium, Director Christa Speed said.

Children are encouraged to bring a teddy bear or other stuffed animal with them to the concert, Speed said. There will also be a "petting zoo" where children can try out string orchestra instruments prior to the concert.

The Orchestra will perform music from the movies "Harry Potter" and "Happy Feet," "The Pink Panther," "Variations on Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star," a fiddle tune "The Arkansas Traveler," "Teddy Bear's Picnic," and more.

One of the purposes of the concert is to raise funds for the Orchestra's trip to Austria in March 2009. Admission for the concert is $5 for adults and $3 for children less than 12 years old.
