G.I. Public Schools sponsoring Science Fair for students in Grades 3-7
The third annual Grand Island Public Schools Science Fair for students in third grade through seventh grade will be April 7.
The district-wide Science Fair will occur at Grand Island Senior High School from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 7, said Stacy Vogel, an integration specialist at Westridge Middle School who’s coordinating the event with Lisa Blase, integration specialist at Engleman Elementary School. Approximately 100 students will participate in the Science Fair.
Students’ experiments and inventions will be set up in the North Cafeteria at 2:30 p.m. April 7, waiting to be shared with judges, and then later with students and parents. Staff from the Edgerton Explorit Center will present science demonstrations for students.
Elementary school, middle school, and high school integration specialists have been working together to plan and promote science fairs at schools. Staff members from the school district have been asked to judge the Science Fair entries.
The schedule for April 7 includes:
- 2:30 p.m. – Welcome by Grand Island Senior High School Principal Kent Mann.
- 2:45 p.m. – Judging of Group 1 entries begins. Group 2 students will view the Edgerton
- Explorit Center presentation in the auditorium’s foyer.
- 3:55 p.m. – Judging of Group 2 entries begins. Group 1 students will view the Edgerton Explorit Center presentation in the auditorium’s foyer.
- 5 p.m. – Snacks will be provided for students. Results will be finalized. Parents may join their children at this time.
- 5:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. – Ribbons and certificates will be presented. Parents and the public may view the students' projects between 5 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. April 7.
