G.I. Public Schools sponsoring Parent Involvement Conference
The Grand Island Public Schools is hosting the 33rd Annual Statewide Parent Involvement Conference on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Westridge Middle School, 4111 W. 13th St.
The conference is from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 7 and offers a free continental breakfast and free childcare.
The keynote presentation is from the educational theatre company, R.E.S.P.E.C.T, which has presented more than 1,800 violence prevention programs to students and adults since 2001.
R.E.S.P.E.C.T. Executive Director Dr. Patricia Newman, who is also a child psychologist, teams with Artistic Director Nick Zadina, Program Director Brandon Rohe, and Actor Educator Ashley Spessard to share the power of using drama and theatre to reach and teach about the importance of safe, healthy, and positive relationship behavior.
Many breakout sessions are available, such as behavior supports, ADHD, and math and reading help.
The pre-registration fee for the conference is $25 per person. The registration fee the day of the conference is $30 per person.
