G.I. Public Schools schedules public town hall meeting for budget discussion

A public town hall meeting to discuss Grand Island Public Schools’ budget for 2011-2012 has been set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, in the West Conference Room at the Kneale Administration Building, 123 South Webb Road.

The purposes of the meeting are to get input from the public concerning pending budget reductions and to get residents’ ideas about determining the reductions.

Members of the school district’s Board of Education will be present to hear the discussion. Pete Kortum, a former member of the Board of Education who is a Grand Island Police Department captain, will be the moderator for the meeting.

A second town hall meeting has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, to discuss budget decisions that were made after the first town hall meeting. The location for the second town hall meeting will be announced at a later date. Pete Kortum will also be the moderator for the second meeting.
