G.I. Public Schools offering summer food service program for children

The Grand Island Public Schools is sponsoring a summer food service program for children at eight schools from May 26 through July 24, said Nutrition Services Director Kris Spellman.

Lunch will not be served on July 3, Spellman said. Any children ages 1 through 18 years old may participate, no application is required, and participants do not have to meet any income level guidelines. An adult may purchase a meal for $2.75.

Reservations are not required. However, any groups with 10 or more people are asked to call 384-2986 before 8 a.m. the day they want to eat.

Lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday through Friday at these locations, listed alphabetically:
*Dodge Elementary School, 641 S. Oak St.
*Howard Elementary School, 502 W. Ninth St.
*Jefferson Elementary School, 1314 W. Seventh St.
*Knickrehm Elementary School, 2013 N. Oak St.
*Lincoln Elementary School, 805 N. Beal St.
*Starr Elementary School, 315 Wyandotte St.
*Walnut Middle School, 1600 N. Custer Ave.
*Wasmer Elementary School, 318 S. Clark St.
