G.I. Public Schools musicians featured in Spring String Fling
Approximately 300 Grand Island Public Schools students in fifth grade through 12th grade will perform at the annual Spring String Fling at 7 p.m. Monday, April 18, at Walnut Middle School’s gym, Orchestra Director Christa Speed said.
“This is the 31st year for the Spring String Fling,” Speed said.
The fifth-grade all-city elementary school orchestra comprised of students from all 14 Grand Island Public Schools elementary schools will perform. The middle school orchestra with students from Barr, Walnut, and Westridge Middle Schools will also be featured. The Grand Island Senior High School Camerata and Philharmonic Orchestras will also perform.
The concert is free and is open to the public. Christa Speed and Marla Rischling direct the orchestras. Walnut Middle School is located at 1600 N. Custer Ave.
