G.I. Public Schools hosting seminars for High Ability Learners

Grand Island Public Schools is hosting two seminars for seventh- and eighth-grade High Ability Learner students.

The "Snap, Goes the Shutter" seminar for seventh-graders concerning digital photography will be from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, and Friday, Sept. 10, at Barr Middle School's media center at 602 W. Stolley Park Road, said Lori Toepfer, Barr integration specialist. Photography techniques used by professionals will be taught. Students will shoot photos with digital cameras, download them, and edit them with Adobe Photoshop Elements.

The "Doctor, Doctor, Give Me the News" seminar for eighth-graders concerning medical careers will be from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, and Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Westridge Middle School, 4111 W. 13th St. Students will study anatomy by dissecting fetal pigs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 14 and Sept. 15, she said.
