G.I. Education Foundation accepting nominations for Legendary Educator Award
The Grand Island Education Foundation is accepting nominations for the 2011 Legendary Educator Award.
The Legendary Educator Award program was inaugurated in 2009 to recognize the outstanding educators who have made a difference to the thousands of students who have attended Grand Island Public Schools.
The award will be presented at the Grand Island Senior High School Hall of Honor Banquet on Oct. 6, 2011. The deadline to submit nominations is Jan. 10, 2011.
To qualify for the Legendary Educator Award, a person must be a former Grand Island Public Schools employee. Nominees may be living or deceased. Nominees shall be former teachers, coaches, counselors, administrators, or other staff members and have made a significant and lasting contribution to the education of many students. Up to two awards will be made.
Nomination forms are available on the Grand Island Education Foundation's website at www.gips.org/foundation/Legendary-Educator and at the Kneale Administration Building, 123 S. Webb Road.
Nominations should include the following information:
1. Legendary Educator nominee's name
2. Subject/grade taught or job duty
3. Name of school(s) where educator was employed
4. Name, address, phone number, and e-mail address of person submitting nomination
5. An explanation of why the nominee is "legendary" and how the nominee has benefited many students
