Four elementary schools hosting author Laurence Pringle

Children's book author Laurence Pringle will work with Grand Island Public Schools students at four elementary schools during the week of Nov. 29 to promote writing and reading.

Pringle will show students at each grade level at Jefferson, Knickrehm, Starr, and Wasmer Elementary Schools how to develop book ideas and get them published. He will also show students how to develop voice and organization in their writing.

Pringle's schedule for the week of Nov. 29 is:
*Monday, Nov. 29, Knickrehm Elementary School, 2013 N. Oak St.: 8 a.m. to 8:55 a.m. Nov. 29, first grade; 9 a.m. to 9:55 a.m., kindergarten; 10 a.m. to 10:55 a.m., second grade; 11 a.m. to 11:55 a.m., fourth grade; 1 p.m. to 1:55 p.m., third grade; and 2 p.m. to 2:55 p.m., fifth grade.
*Tuesday, Nov. 30, Starr Elementary School, 315 Wyandotte St.: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 30.
*Thursday, Dec. 2, Jefferson Elementary School, 1314 W. Seventh St.: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 2.
*Friday, Dec. 3, Wasmer Elementary School, 318 S. Clark St.: 8 a.m. to 8:55 a.m. Dec. 3, second grade; 9 a.m. to 9:55 a.m., first grade; 10 a.m. to 10:55 a.m., kindergarten; 11 a.m. to 11:55 a.m., third grade; 1 p.m. to 1:55 p.m., fourth grade; and 2 p.m. to 2:55 p.m., fifth grade.
Laurence Pringle grew up in rural western New York and lives in West Nyack, N.Y. He has written more than 100 books during his career. His specialty is non-fiction books with titles such as "Scorpions! Strange and Wonderful," "Dinosaurs and Their World," and "Come to the Oceanís Edge."
