Family Literacy Night scheduled at Walnut
Walnut Middle School is sponsoring a Family Literacy Night from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, at the school's media center at 1600 N. Custer Ave.
Students and their families will learn about fire safety, said English Language Acquisition teacher Irina Belikova-Erickson.
Representatives from the Grand Island Fire Department will give a presentation about their job duties, what education they need to keep their jobs, and what firefighters do when they are not on duty. Participants will view a firefighter's uniform and look at a fire truck, she said.
