Engleman Elementary School students prepare to spend first day in new school
Engleman Elementary School students will spend their first day at their newly renovated school at 1812 Mansfield Road on Friday, Dec. 19.
Students will start the day at their "old" school at 4360 W. Capital Ave. at 8 a.m. Dec. 19, Principal Maureen Oman said. They will begin boarding buses to go to the new school at 9 a.m. Dec. 19.
"Staff and students have waited with anticipation of the moving date. Students are excited about having lockers and lots more space in their classrooms. They are also looking forward to playing on their new playground that was built by members of the Engleman Parent Teacher Organization in September. The new building has a separate cafeteria and a media center that will accommodate larger groups of students. The larger classrooms will allow staff and students to work in small groups and implement instruction more effectively," Oman said.
Events scheduled for the remainder of the day on Dec. 19 include:
*9 a.m.: Students will arrive at the new school and enter the school through assigned entrances.
*11 a.m.: Students will eat lunch at the new school.
*1 p.m.: Students will attend an assembly in the cafeteria featuring Dr. Steve Joel, superintendent; Lynn Cronk, Board of Education president; and Maureen Oman, Engleman principal.
*2:30 p.m.: Students will be dismissed from school at this time to assist with safety and pick-up for the first day at the new school.
