Elementary registration set for June 23 for Howard Elementary School
Grand Island Public Schools registration for the 2011-2012 school year for Howard Elementary School students in kindergarten through fifth grades who have not already registered will be from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23.
Howard Elementary School students will begin the 2011-2012 school year following a continuous school calendar on Wednesday, July 13. Howard Elementary School is the first elementary school in Grand Island Public Schools to switch to a continuous school calendar.
Children who will be 5 years old by Oct. 15 are eligible to register for kindergarten. Please bring students who will be entering kindergarten to registration for assessment. Parents are asked to bring to registration their child's birth certificate and Social Security number. The names and birthdates of all brothers and sisters, proof of physical examinations and immunizations (if available), and the name and address of someone other than parents to contact in case of emergency are also required. By state law, physical examinations, vision examinations, and immunizations are required for all students entering school.
It is extremely important for parents to register their children so the school can plan for 2011- 2012 classes. If you cannot register June 23 at Howard Elementary School at 502 W. Ninth St., it is important that you contact the school to make other arrangements.
