Dodge Elementary School staff participating in traveling back-to-school meeting
Dodge Elementary School certified staff members will kick off their school year Friday, Aug. 14, with a creative traveling staff meeting, Principal Stephanie Schulte said.
Three Dodge staff members received their bus operators' licenses this summer, so Schulte decided to have a mobile staff meeting.
"We are going to tour the Dodge area to remind teachers about the variety of homes our students come from and cover our business items in a variety of settings," Schulte said. "We will start out at Dodge for breakfast with the theme 'Happy Talk -- Have a Dream.'"
The breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. Aug. 14. Staff members will depart from the school in buses at approximately 8:30 a.m. Aug. 14 and will return at approximately 11 a.m. Aug. 14.
Staff members will ride in three buses through the school's attendance area to the school district's Welcome Center at 1137 S. Locust St. There, they will learn what services the Welcome Center provides for English Language Learner students who are new to Grand Island.
The employees will then meet at Island Oasis for some information and ride in the buses through more of Dodge's attendance area, including the Cherry Street Apartments. At the apartments, they will look around and have part of their meeting in the apartment complex's lobby. The group will then return to Dodge for discussion and closure, Schulte said.
The school has 45 certified staff members who will participate in the event.
